02 April, 2020. In line with national efforts towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic, we introduced instructions and guidelines to limit services to emergency care, and postpone certain elective and non-urgent surgeries in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).
Dubai Healthcare City Authority, the governing body of the free zone, has learnt that a few DHCC-based clinical facilities continue to carry out elective and non-urgent surgeries. Facilities in violation of our directives are instructed to comply immediately; non-compliance will face disciplinary action from Dubai Healthcare City Authority – Regulatory (DHCR).
Note: This circular supersedes and replaces all previously communicated dates/timeframe/s until further notice in relation to elective surgeries announced on
26 March,
24 March, and
19 March.
We understand that these directives may have a financial impact, however, at this time, our priority is to mitigate risk where/when possible. The guidelines have been introduced to:
- Ensure efficient utilisation of existing healthcare resources in terms of staffing and consumables.
- Increase healthcare access especially for critical cases.
- Conserve blood units.
- Enforce home confinement.
- Minimise mobility of unnecessary traffic.
Reminder: Certain elective surgeries are permitted and guidelines related to these have been communicated. To include an elective surgery not covered under DHCR guidelines, and/or to request for approval, email
cop@dhcr.gov.ae /
info@dhcr.gov.ae.
We look forward to your understanding and support to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
